Bodie After Dark
 Bodie is like the Winchester House; it's one of those places every ghost/history enthusiast should visit at least once. If you're like me you'll fall under Bodie's spell and return again and again...As a ghost investigator, I'd always wanted to visit Bodie after dark. My inquiring phone calls were always met with polite, but firm, refusals. "Sorry we don't allow visitors to the park after nightfall."
Okay, I know that ghosts can be investigated during daylight hours as well as dark, but Bodie at night......
I had long since given up on the idea when a local news reporter called and invited me to accompany her and her cameraman on an investigation of Bodie AT NIGHT!
I could hardly believe my good fortune, especially when I realized that my friends Tom and Lisa Butler were also going along on this investigation...
We arrived about an hour before sunset and were greeted by park rangers who told us a bit about the town's history. One ranger stressed the fact that there were no ghosts here but nevermind, we had some time before nightfall to explore and do some photography.
It was early fall, but having visited the park on several other occasions, we knew how cold it could get in Bodie. So we had come prepared with heavy jackets and scarves. Good thing! It was already starting to get cold. The moon was full and thousands of stars, not easily visible in the city, sparkled across the night sky. As we walked up toward the old mining area Lisa and Tom collected EVP and we all took digital photos. We stopped and listened to the quiet; there is no place as quiet as Bodie. Suddenly we heard the sounds of children's laughter eminating up from the old school house. Knowing that rangers live in some of the old buildings I asked, "How many children live in Bodie?" "None." The ranger who was acting as our guide answered. We looked at one another, we'd all heard the kids.
