Ghosts in the Cemetery
|
Cemeteries may be haunted. But not that much. Yes, I know that most new ghosthunters want to head straight for the nearest cemetery. And they probably roam through the graveyard late at night, convinced they are in the company of hundreds of spirits. That's okay, there are probably a few ghosts lurking about. In my opinion there just aren't that many spirits in cemeteries. Why?
Spirits will generally return to the places they knew and loved in life. Now, who besides ghosthunters, hang out in cemeteries? If a release (death) is especially traumatic, violent or unexpected the spirit may stay in the very spot where death occured. The spirit is often confused in these instances.
It is no uncommon for a spirit to be in complete denial of release. These spirits will generally return to routine places such as where they worked or lived.
Certainly there are some spirits in cemeteries. But the belief that these places of burial are teeming with ghosts is based not on logic, but superstition.
Ask yourself a couple of questions.... 1. After release, why would a spirit feel the need to follow its body to the place of burial? 2. If a ghost is in denial of death (and many are) why would it follow its body to the graveyard? Isn't this an acceptance of death? 3.If you were a spirit, free to go exactly where you choose, would you go to the cemetery or a more exciting place?
Cemeteries may not be that haunted, but they are wonderful serene places to relax and ponder our mortality. Somehow walking in a cemetery puts ones problems into perspective. What will our problems matter a hundred years from today?
If you simply must do an investigation in a cemetery, make sure you have permission to do so. Many older cemeteries are locked after dark because of vandalism.
